Susan G Koman Race (I'm There!)

Wednesday, June 11, 2008
I'm participating in my first 5k this weekend!

Are any of you?

In early April I started training with the Carolina Godiva Track club in their Running Start race-prep program for beginners. I couldn't resist because I had about 10 clients urging me to give it a try (props to Crystal, the ring leader).

Anyway, the training program made it (kind of) easy for me to be successful. The group of runners would meet in RTP on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30. On the first week we alternated 1 minute of running with a minute of walking for a total of 30 minutes. Each week we added one more minute of running while keeping the walking intervals to one minute. And before you know it, I was ready to run my first 5k!

It's also worth noting that the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure supports breast cancer research and education, a issued that has touched some of the Garden community.

And if you're interested, you can still register on-line (through June 12) or at the event.

Survey's From The Garden

Thursday, May 15, 2008
The Garden Staff would like to thank everyone for participating in our surveys! Just to let you know we send out these surveys to gather information on what we can do better for YOU, and what you like and dislike about the salon. The purpose is to make YOUR experience at The Garden more enjoyable.

Just to do a little back tracking and as some of you may not know, but The Garden is owned and operated by Shea Davis. There is a co-owner, Greg Prospero. Shea has always wanted to own her own salon and especially one that was aimed toward women. Greg's role comes into play with his own entrepreneur background and his MBA knowledge. Trust me, Shea has women's needs at heart, and she was smart enough to gather all the right resources to make sure it was a successful one!

Thank you all for all your support!

New Handbags, Homemage Soaps & Baby Wipe Holders

Wednesday, May 7, 2008
Andra Salemy, one of our clients, is selling her creative bags at The Garden! She is a UNC graduate and stay at home mother of two. It all started when she began making diapers and wipe holders as gifts for friends, and a home business was born. The soaps are homemade by Andra's mother and stepfather. These soaps are wonderful for sensitive skin.

Andra's work is continually updated at ardra.etsy.com.

Attention Brides & Proms: We have Hair Pieces

Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Yes, that's right...The Garden is now carrying Ready To Wear hair pieces. These are awesome!! I just came back from a Sebastian Updo Class and these pieces are all the rage in RUNWAY Hair. Always wished you had thicker & longer hair for that volumious, but natural hairstyle? Well now you can...we are carrying an assortment of colors and lengths. Make sure to ask about these when you come in!

New Product: Deva Curl

Monday, February 18, 2008
We just received our first shipment of one of our new favorites: Deva Curl by DevaConcepts. This line is made specifically for those with naturally curly hair. It works well reducing the frizz and bringing out your healthy curls. Both "Noo-poo" and "Low-Poo" are unique in that they don't create much lather. But the results will leave you feeling bubbly!

We are also stocking AnGell and Set-It-Free (gel, spray).

Prices start at $7.95 for small sizes and up to $17.95 for large.

New Product: Pureology

Saturday, February 16, 2008
We had been keeping it a secret for ourselves... but several weeks ago we started using and selling PureOlogy shampoo and conditioner. Both products will make your hair feel great and help protect the color that makes you look so great.

Oh, and we've noticed that Target occasionally stocks this higher-end line. But don't be tempted by Wal-Mart, errr... Target. Our price is actually lower! : )

Wine Tasting: Success

Sunday, February 10, 2008
Thank you for making our wine event a success! We estimate that approximately 40 friends of the Garden came out to experience the four wines brought by our generous host, Seth, from the Wine Authorities.
